Overview

What we make. Who it's for.

Backwater Hat Co. handcrafts bold, custom leather-patched trucker hats on premium Richardson 112s. We pair American grit with fine detailing to create a product that resonates with modern patriots, country fans, and lifestyle-driven consumers.

What sets us apart is the patch — a hand-tooled leather badge attached to a structured trucker, finished with our signature side hardware. Every hat is a one-of-one statement piece made in limited drops.

Meet the Founders

Two operators. One vision.

We built Backwater to own a niche every other hat company is leaving on the table: the country lifestyle customer who wants craftsmanship, not mass-produced merch.

Traction

Real demand. Real sales. Real channels.

Backwater isn't a deck with promises — it's a brand that has already pulled measurable demand through TikTok and Shopify.

  • 22,000+ cart adds in 30 days on TikTok, generated organically before the brand had inventory in stock.
  • Active Shopify storefront at backwaterhatco.com processing orders and shipping nationwide.
  • 50K+ TikTok followers on the founder brand channel, with content tested and proven to convert.
  • Festival placement secured through artist partnerships, with branded truck presence and photo-op activations planned for every stop.

The Ask

$200,000 to fund the country-music tour.

This round of capital goes directly to executing a 10-stop national tour of major country music festivals in 2026, with crowds of 60,000–100,000 attendees per day. The tour is the launch event for our scaled production and the foundation for year-round e-commerce growth.

"We're not asking investors to believe in a slide deck — we're asking them to fund a tour that already has the stage, the truck, and the audience booked."

Use of instrument: SAFE note at a $1.5M valuation cap, with a 1x non-participating liquidation preference. Standard YC template, ready to execute.

Use of Funds

Where the $200,000 goes.

Every dollar is tied to a deliverable inside the 6-month tour window. No overhead, no salaries — only assets that compound into the next production cycle.

Projections

The numbers on the road.

Our forecast is based on prior viral traction and a 10-stop country-music tour with confirmed placement. Three scenarios — base, conservative, and stretch — to show the math honestly.

Tour Stop Location Projected Revenue
1 Chicago, IL $36,000
2 Wisconsin $40,000
3 Alabama $50,000
4 Ohio $25,000
5 Oklahoma $32,000
6 South Carolina $20,000
7 Florida (multi-day) $80,000
8–10 Additional stops (TBA) $60,000
Total Projected Revenue $343,000

Base Case

$210,927

Net profit on 9,450 hats at $29.95, fully sold through.

Conservative (50%)

$69,400

Half of tour inventory sold. Still covers COGS and 80% of tour costs.

Stretch (+30%)

$335,000

Sell-through plus 30% restock on TikTok post-tour. Reinvest in next production wave.

Growth Objectives

From tour to lifestyle brand.

Short-Term · 0–6 Months

  • Complete the 10-stop national country tour
  • Triple daily patch production with 3 new laser engravers
  • Sell through 9,450-unit launch inventory
  • Reinvest tour revenue into Q4 production wave

Mid-Term · 8–12 Months

  • Resume full-scale TikTok & e-commerce operations
  • Lease dedicated production space, centralize fulfillment
  • Hire full-time staff and document scalable systems
  • Expand the patch and hardware collection

Long-Term · Year 2+

  • Co-branded drops with aligned country artists
  • Wholesale partnerships with rural lifestyle retailers
  • Build the recognized patriotic lifestyle brand in our niche
  • Series A or strategic exit at brand maturity

Why Now

The window is open.

  • 22,000+ cart adds in 30 days is the demand signal. The only thing missing was the inventory — and this tour provides both the audience and the unit economics to fulfill it.
  • Country music is the fastest-growing major genre in the U.S., with festival attendance hitting record highs every year since 2022.
  • Festival placement is the rarest asset in this category — and we already have it locked in for 2026.
  • Margin structure supports the math. 74% gross margin on a $29.95 hat means every festival sale pays back inventory and tour costs in the same transaction.
